Phased return of housing sector

Couple moving into their new home

We welcome the news from the Scottish Government that the housing sector will start it’s first phase of re-opening from today (28th May).  See the full ‘Route Map’ Report here.

The second phase will likely be 18th June, dependant on continued ability to suppress the virus.  As part of the final stage, letting agents will be able to open their offices on 11th August, again, depending on public health advice.

Personally, I feel we’ll now simply have to adapt to a more flexible way of working whilst becoming more aware of public health and safety.  Masks and gloves could become the norm, and less office footfall could mean the opportunity to take advantage of some great technology we have available for arranging meetings, virtual tours and even property maintenance issues.

A large proportion of what we do as a business can be managed remotely; so we are lucky in that this gives us the opportunity to revise our business model and move towards a new way of doing business now, and for the foreseeable future.

Our staff, tenants and landlords can be confident that we have taken a proactive approach during lockdown and will have further guidance in place for practising social distancing as well as establishing safe procedures including the introduction of PPE.

Keep safe!
