Tier 4 Restrictions in Scotland – Rental Market Activity

Under the most recent government guidelines, house-moving is permitted during Tier 4, provided this can be carried out safely.

Moving during Tier 4?
If you’re planning on moving home during the current restrictions (which come into effect on 26th December 2020), you can undertake any activities in connection with letting of a residential property. The guidelines also include the purchase and sale of residential properties.

What can I do?
You can visit a letting agency (and sales office) – although the preferred method of doing this is by ‘virtual appointment’, in the first instance. If a virtual viewing is not possible, you can attend viewings, as long as there are strict safety measures in place.

You can move home too, again, as long as social distancing and strict safety measures are in place.

The guidance states:

“People can move home in all protection levels, and to and from areas with different levels, but may wish to consider if they can postpone a move and related activities in areas subject to level 4 protections. Relevant businesses can also continue to support people to move home in all protection levels, and should follow the Scottish Government’s latest guidance for employers and businesses on COVID-19.”

During this time, we can offer virtual tours on some (but not all properties). We have safe measures in place for physical viewings. As and when we will be in the office, the office door will be locked and we will be operating by ‘appointment only’.
